When can I opt out of health insurance?
Are there shorter health policies available?
What are my options for health insurance? I graduate soon...
Answer
Health insurance coverage is mandatory for international students while you finish your studies at RRC Polytech.
It typically takes 3–4 months after graduation before you get your Post-Graduation Work Permit and can apply for Manitoba Health coverage. The College is required to insure you until that time. Only after you have Manitoba Health coverage of your own or through a spouse, you can opt out of the College's health coverage. The College’s insurance provider, Gallivan, offers 4- and 12-month policies. The length of your policy is determined by your program start and end date.
