Does the Library charge fines?

Does the Library have overdue fees?

What happens if I don't return a book on time?

I lost a Library book/equipment item

Answer

Overdue (Books)

Late fines only apply to overdue reserve items, recalled items, and interlibrary loans. Details are found in the Library's Borrowing Policy.

Lost / Damaged (Books)

Library borrowers are responsible for any loss or damage to materials borrowed on their card. If you receive a notice from the Library charging you the replacement cost for unreturned materials, please return the items and your fines will be forgiven.

Unpaid Library Fees

Failure to return items or to pay replacement costs for lost items will result in suspension of library privileges. Diplomas, certificates, degrees and transcripts will be withheld by the Registrar until Library accounts are settled.

Overdue Library Equipment and Laptops

Failure to return equipment or to pay replacement costs for lost equipment will result in suspension of Library privileges. Library borrowers are responsible for any loss or damage to equipment borrowed on their card.

Notes

  • Overdue laptops may result in the device being remotely disabled. Overdue laptops are remotely frozen when 48 hours overdue.
  • If a laptop is not returned, you will be billed for the full replacement cost of the device.
